EA boots off Guest mode from FIFA 18 – Fan base kicks back with Petition [NEWS]

EA has reinstated guest play to FIFA 18 after a continuous player campaign that put pressure on the developers to reverse the controversial choice to omit the popular feature from the latest entry in the FIFA series. The controversy began upon the first days of FIFA’s release as the players discovered that no Guest Mode was available in Ultimate Team.

Guest play is a mode that allows two players to team up to play FUT Online Seasons and FUT Online Drafts. Many fans enjoyed the mode, as it has provided immense fun to them, and some even bought the latest entry just because of this mode. Players were shocked to find that the mode has been removed in FIFA 18.EA’s decision to do this according to their response was that it did not seem to be fair that two players were teaming up against a solo player online. However, this response only fueled the fire even more.

The FIFA community created the #bringbackguest hashtag to get online support. An online petition on Change.org received over 10,000 signatures rather quickly. Today on the 11th of October 2017 EA has announced the return of guest play, effective immediately.
"We have heard your feedback about guest functionality in FUT Online Seasons and FUT Online Draft and are happy to announce that we have added this functionality back into FIFA 18 PS4/XB1/PC effective immediately."
There are certain guest play on-screen elements, missing. This will be fixed and also updated as stated by EA. Until this update happens,  in order to add a guest in FUT Online Seasons and FUT Online Draft, search for an opponent in either mode, make sure you have a second controller turned on and signed in to an account, then press triangle on PS4, Y on Xbox One or the Add Guest button prompt on PC to add a guest.
